Reach out, touch lives and experience a one-of-a-kind culture!

Why We Need You...

In 2006 it was estimated that approximately 28 million people here in the Philippines were living below the countries poverty threshold; this accounts for about 33% or one third of the total country's population. As a result many Filipino families lack the necessary funding for basic living requirements. Many families live in sub-standard housing with lack of electricity and/or running water, have little or no access to affordable healthcare, are malnourished and lack the necessary funding to complete education.

Over recent years, we here at Volunteer For The Visayans have made great strides to improve the lives of many people in our local communities, but desperately need a constant flow of volunteers and donors to achieve our goals.

By volunteering, you can reach out in many different ways from working as an intern in a Health Clinic, to becoming a teachers assistant or working at an orphanage. Rest assured we always try to match the skills of our volunteers with those who would benefit most from it thus maintaining our commitment to sustainable development.

 What does it cost?

Fees vary depending on the duration of your stay, however as a Non Government Organization we make NO profit, the fee you pay goes straight towards the sustainable projects that we run, we do not spend your funds on marketing or recruiting campaigns; instead your money goes straight into empowering VFV projects that make a difference to the countless communities we work with.

Your fee also includes your accomodation as well as two meals a day (breakfast and dinner) with a local host family homestay. During your stay with your homestay you will be treated as a member of the family, you'll have access to clean mineral water and will be provided with safe storage for your belongings (bring your own padlock) and a mosquito net.

We also provide free airport pick-up and drop-off, on site orientation, excursions to local sites of interest and a VFV project site excursion where you get to see first hand where your money goes. Additionally we provide 24 hour assistance with our local friendly and professional staff, a 'crash' language course in our local dialect 'Waray-Waray' and a special farewell dinner or 'despadita' the night before your departure.
