Barangay Canggumbang in the rural town of Palo, Leyte has for a long time been an important area of focus for staff and volunteers at Volunteer for the Visayans. Over the years, the small rural barangay has been the recipient of a number of VFV Projects and Programs ranging from volunteer assistance at the local Elementary School to the distribution of school supplies through the Adopt-A-School Project and the provision of social welfare support to a number of children who are lucky enough to have been enrolled on VFV’s Child Sponsorship Program.

This June, Volunteer for the Visayans (VFV) Needs YOU to help assist in the construction of a community center for children enrolled on our Dumpsite Project.
The squalor of the Tacloban City dump is probably one of the last places on Earth which anyone would want to spend their Saturday afternoons.
However, for individuals volunteering in the Philippines with VFV, many have chosen to sacrifice their weekends off so that they can venture deep into the City Dump to augment support outside of their regular project commitment to the Volunteer for the Visayans Dumpsite Project.
